The Bible is the word of God. When we read it, it's God speaking to us. To know God's word is to know God. The Holy Scriptures are like a love letter from God to us. Since God made us, He obviously knows what's best for us, just as car companies know what's best for their cars more than the cars themselves do.
Many people don't like The Bible because they have never read it for themselves. They rely on half-baked theories that they heard their favorite skeptics proclaim. They incorrectly think that The Bible is full of errors and mistakes, because that's what they were spoon-fed in college. Other people don't like The Bible because they view it as "narrow-minded" or "oppressive." Well, truth more often than not is very exclusive - we may not like a certain truth, but it would be stupid to deny its existence simply because we find it too "restricting." It's like this: let's say I went to the store and bought a gallon of milk. After about a week, I checked the expiration date and found out that it was only guaranteed to be fresh until tomorrow. But there's still more than half a gallon left! How narrow-minded of the milk company to set a specific date! I might not be particularly fond of that expiration date, but I would be wise to abide by it and not try to drink that same milk a month down the road! Still others think that their own personal beliefs create and shape reality; they don't believe in The Bible and so, in their eyes, that makes it untrue. Unfortunately for them, beliefs do not change facts. You can refuse to believe that electricity is real - and you're entitled to your own opinion - but your opinion does not change reality. You can disbelieve in electricity all you want, but if you shove your car key into an electrical outlet, you're going to be in for quite a "shock." Reality is not determined by personal beliefs or opinions.
Time and time again, The Bible has been proven to be historically accurate. Factor in the many, many specific Biblical prophecies fulfilled, and even the average observer can recognize that The Bible is no ordinary Book. It is what it claims to be - the word of God.
